“Teriyaki” Chicken Wings

Are they actually “Teriyaki”? Probably not. Are they fucking delicious? Absolutely they are. These were my late aunt Theresa’s contribution to every family cookout, and now they’re mine.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Chicken wings
  • Soy sauce
  • Brown sugar
  • Garlic powder

Recipe

Put your wings in a gallon ziplock and add enough soy sauce to cover them. Add a few generous scoops of brown sugar, and more garlic powder than seems reasonable. Close the zip-loc, squeezing out the air, and shake to combine. Marinate in the fridge for at least 6 hours, but ideally overnight.

With the lid closed, grill for 10-15 minutes over direct medium heat until browned, flipping occassionally.

Move to indirect heat and grill an additional 15-20 minutes, with the lid closed, flipping occasionally, until the internal temperature reaches at least 180F.
